The newest re-make of the Chinese drama, The Four currently airs on Hunan TV. Starring Zhang Han (as Coldblooded), William Chan (as Chaser)
i’ve been waiting for this to air for such a long time, especially having watched Zhang Han in Boss & Me.
With only four episodes having aired so far, I can already tell that Zhang Han is probably going to receive a lot of slack for his acting. However, in my humble opinion, and as unbiased as possible, I believe that his ’emotionless’ acting is the best to portray Coldblooded.
In the fourth episode, you can see that the character DOES have emotions based on the way that he interacts with his brothers and his hidden smiles at the plight of one of the leading ladies. Not to mention his concern regarding his fellow female constable.
You’re all probably confused right now, so let me introduce the characters.
There are a few more female characters to add into the mix, but they don’t seem to have very nice posters or THAT large of a role to play.
For anyone that has watched any of the other previous versions, they will know that the story focuses mainly on the history, present and future of Coldblooded, with the other character’s side stories interspersed throughout the drama.
So far, this version deviates slightly by introducing a more mythical side to it by making Coldblooded of werewolf origin/ancestry.
The CG effects in this become quite annoying at times but it does add to the beauty of the costumes.
I would have to say that as far as the four episodes go, this will probably be my favourite re-make. Assuming the scriptwriter doesn’t decide to drag out the stories.
